After a little time he started in an advertising agency as an art director. The day finally came when Eric Carl got a call from Bill Martin Jr. an author and educator, asking if he would illustrate a book that he had written. Eric had caught Bill’s attention when he drew a picture of a lobster for the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? This book was a favorite of children, and was the start of his true career. Eric Carle started writing his own children’s books and illustrating them with his amazing drawings. Eric hit some grand slams with his first couple of books including 1,2,3 To The Zoo, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar but there are many more that children across the world read and love as well.
